About the teacher
Ayelet Shilgy is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher from the RIMYI Institute in Pune since 2015.
Originally from Israel, she has been a practitioner of Iyengar Yoga for over 15 years and teaching for a decade.
Her passion for yoga brought her to India, first as a student and for the past years as a resident, from which she is the founder of Mountain View Yoga Studio in Dharamshala. She holds a deep connection with the location as her first ever yoga class took place in Dharamshala, in 2003.
All these years and still today, Ayelet studies with senior teachers all over the world including Iyengar family. As a dedicated student of Yoga, she teaches from her own experience. Her journey with yoga started from a physical need as it helped her to ease the back and shoulders pain she suffered from as a result of sitting in front of the computer screen for long hours.
Nowadays yoga practice is much more than a physical practice for her as she was able to change her complete perspective of life through it.
As a teacher, what has been inspiring for her the most, is the positive change she can help bring into the lives of her students. In classes she teaches heartfully giving attention to each of her students, correcting and motivating them to better their practice in a precise yet joyful and loving way.
About the method
“Action is movement with intelligence. The world is filled with movement. What the world needs is more conscious movement, more action.” – B.K.S. Iyengar
Considered by many to be “the father of modern yoga”, B.K.S. Iyengar developed his innovative and inspired approach to yoga through intense practice and self-study. His famous book, Light on Yoga, has been continuously in print since originally published in 1966.
Structured towards gradual and steady progress rather than quick and fleeting results, each class is a unique sequence developed by our Iyengar certified teacher, to guide students through a safe and systematic progression.
Your experienced and highly-qualified teacher will help each student find their own level for each pose, and props may be used to make poses accessible and ensure correct execution.
